No matter if you’re moving, or spring cleaning your home, there are always things that you don’t need or don’t use anymore. That’s what the storage is for. But if you just keep piling things up in there, you’ll run out of space to leave your mess in. And in most cases, you’ll completely forget about the things in there. Tips for tidying up your storage

These are simple steps to help you out:

Make an inventory list

First things first. Try to get inside and make a list of everything there is. Even the tiniest details. It’s the first and the most important step for a reason. Because if you don’t know what you’re dealing with, you’re gonna spend a lot more of your precious time. And who knows, maybe you’ll find something you’ve forgotten about, and that you might actually need now.

Create a strategy

Once you’re done with making a list, it’s time to make a plan. You’re gonna need it if you want to stay on track with your mission. Try to adapt everything to your schedule. Keep in mind that you’ll probably need one whole day for decluttering only. It is exhausting, but it’s not undoable. Particularly if you find someone to help you – friends, family, whoever got the time and nerves to do it.

Get rid of the things you don’t need

This can be hard sometimes, but necessary. Let’s face it, there are things that you’re attached to emotionally, but if they’re sitting in some dark corner of your storage for too much, you probably don’t need it. Sure you can keep some smaller things, but if you get rid of the bigger stuff, you’ll have more space, and you’ll spend less time cleaning and rearranging. It’s cheaper than adding another story to your home to put those things. And don’t feel guilty, you’re just making it easier for yourself.
